Life's A Bitc...Beach, notes from the Target

Easy riders.  66th St., Holidays.  7/24/2014
No pouring rain. Just a warm summer's eve with an ass hair's worth of sun.  Mostly clouds.  But the surf was rollin' in clean.  Light westerly off shores gave support to thigh and occasional waist.  Water's still in the mid-70s.  Low tide.  As I come across the dune line a light sprinkle begins and then stops just as abruptly.  Wattman's woman is in town.  A good thing. Now I have conversation with someone other than myself to vanquish the boredom between waves.  Lisa's sales background and natural curiosity allow for vibrant discussions.  Decent sets are slow to come, so we ramble on while we wait for the Watt's next ride. So much so that I miss the Watt slice thru the ride of the season so far. Shredding a small faceline that just never seems to collapse as he glides in front of the shorebreak. The Wattman must've realized that I had lost the focus for that moment as he shouted some incoherent obscenities. Even Lisa punched me.  Damn. Too bad.  Our rules are the rules.  No pic, no ride.  Life's a bitch, ain't it? On the beach anyway.  But the sets start rolling in, and the Watt takes advantage, and so do I.  Some nice pics including another "kook" moment. Now we're pumped....even gotta threaten Watt to get 'em outta the water. The Journey calls.
Finding the inner Kook.

The Ocean City Brewing Company on 56th have named their first sixteen beers already, even got t-shirts for each on sale.  Got glasses of all shapes and mottos.  Man, the marketing department's been working serious OT. Currently only have nine brews on tap.  Gotta say, they were surprisingly good, though as with many a start-up, they need to work on their serving technique.  Chill them glasses folks...either spray chillers (as any good brewery should have) or in a fridge.  The menu was eclectic, including our requisite wing selections.  We ordered both the Spicy Cilantro Lime and Old Bay Wings as well s the blackened Mahi Fish Tacos.  Playing the waiting game we found the place was cavernous but with plenty of sports on the screens.  Ideal during football season.  No music though.  Not good. Digging into the food we found the Cilantro Lime to be very good with a bangin' front end kick.  The Old Bay were breaded which we tend to frown upon, but also had good taste.  Fish Tacos...meh.  They let them sit too long before serving and realized this without offering to reheat or redo. Major bad service issue.  However, all new establishments seem to require a break-in period, so we cut 'em one as well.  Cold tacos, warm glasses, no music.  Must fix quickly.  Good beer though.  We will grant a return engagement.
THE RATINGS -
Cilantro Lime n Old Bay Wings: B+
Mahi Fish Tacos: C-
Beer: B
Atmosphere: B-

Overall Rating = 2.69
