Meteorological Faceplant, the Watt's notes.

Sunny and high 60's, low 70's. Knee to thigh closeouts.
North end break, 2/23/2017.

Weather Dudes we ain't. Good thing we're not on the hunt for a meteorological job. Faceplant for sure! Got 70's in the Midwest. Target's got 70's on the Right Coast. Talk about pressure on the job. Fairly sure this ain't gonna last. Water still around 40F. No surf yet. Don't matter. Not the area of interest being sought. Workin' to bring the Crew together again. May/June time-frame is the objective. $hit should begin to stabilize by then.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch...Target decided to do a quality check at Smitty's. In the manufacturing world, it would have been a big fail. The Targetman cuts no corners. Nor does he give no slack. BBQ Wings and a Coke. He was not impressed. Looks like we're gonna have to have a word with management. More to come...
BBQ Wings: C+. Gotta do better than that Ms. McGee!

Harsh Reality, from the Target's notes.

Low tide, 39F water, 45F air. Empty beach. Empty break. The reality of January on the Shore. 49th street, 1/29/2017.

Its January. Oh, and I hate winter. I mean I really dislike this time of year. The Holidays seem to shade the first half of winter but somehow that makes the reality of the next sixty days even more harsh. Cold wind kills. Sunless sky depresses. Freezing temperatures stiffen. All come together to make each day a grind. Without the bi-monthly release of a Crew meeting that normally takes place in January/February, I am left with reading my seedy catalogs, watching college basketball on the flattie, and dreaming of a warm beach. So, it was a surprise when the Wattman called and let me know of an unscheduled run onto the Shore. Personal business to attend to. Possibility of a Crew meeting. Hmmm, seedy catalog or late Crew lunch? Easy choice.
I met both DWatt and new wife Lisa at South Salisbury's Specific Gravity. Been here several times before. Wattman always has to try out several of the samples. With a chalkboard chock full of Microbrews to select from, his eyes seemed glaze over until he finally choose. The three of us were clearly famished. Ordered up a sampler of  3 types of wings including Whitehaven (Old Bay), Asian Sesame, and Chipotle BBQ. Added a small Bruschetta Chicken Pizza to that. Thus we settled in at the bar. Only 60 plus days since the St. Michaels events. Though together for 8 years they still seem to be feeling that newlywed stage. Discussion centered on the time since (why Lisa didn't use the escape plan I had devised, I have no idea), the reason they were in town, then...the food. Not great, but very good pizza. Very good Old Bay wings; fair asian, blah BBQ. The beer had plenty of variety, and 1/2 pint glasses as well, though not chilled. While the bar was almost empty the three of us had a great time just enjoying the time we had together. Visits can only last so long these days however. We left the quiet pub for a cold, windy, cloud filled day. But as the song says, "Summer is coming but it's just out of reach. I don't know about you but I need a warm summer beach." Spring first. Just 'round the corner. And if I know the Watt, he's figuring on surf. There will be more Crew to come.
