A cold low brings with it low tide and low (knee high) surf. 47th Street break, 4/30/2015 |
OC beaches taking the hard green line. |
Our local Right Coast waters continue to hover in the 48 to 49F range. Surf put off another week, Left to other devices, the Wattman chose a sorta-kinda new destination. The former Station 7 on Old Bridge Road in West O was bought out by a couple of local charter boat captains and turn and burned into the Full Moon Saloon. An uber-locals bar replete with all the expecteds. All domestics on draft, but served in very frosted glasses as out first round had proven. All the basic bar grub on the menu (though they claim they do it better). Your basic aged locals atmosphere with plenty of flatties to view and 50's music for the grandparents to enjoy. The bar was full...the only part of the place that was full (other than the parking lot), so we at a side table and ordered up the Buffalo Wings and Crab Bagelettes. Wings were breaded...and bland. The crab thingees had limited crab which tasted pre-frozen (i.e. fishy) which they may must have been trying to hide with all the pepper on them. Overall, a disappointment. They need to up their game, work out the kinks; if they intend to be a player to the locals...and stay open past 10 pm. They're new. We'll see.
THE RATINGS:
Wings: D+
Crab Bagelettes: C-
